Water-resilient towns and cities

Municipalities have to cope with heavy rain and drought at the same time – on land that is already in use. JUMBO BLOCK creates the missing retention space beneath streets, car parks, squares and parks.

Hazard prevention

Protection from heavy rain where it does most damage

More frequent extreme events and hydraulic runoff peaks overload sewer networks within minutes. Open retention basins need land that is scarce in built-up areas. JUMBO BLOCK achieves high storage density precisely where sealing is greatest – protecting buildings, utility networks and public safety.

  • Throttled discharge relieves sewers and receiving waters
  • Supports separation of rain and foul water (separate system)
  • Open or closed retention spaces, also suitable for building over

Water for dry periods

Store instead of drain

Stored rainwater supplies street trees and green spaces in heatwaves, cools the neighbourhood and reduces drinking-water demand. Infiltration additionally strengthens groundwater recharge.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can JUMBO BLOCK be installed beneath public roads?

Yes. The system is designed for traffic loads to EN 1991-2, load model LM1, and is verified structurally for each project. It can lie beneath roads, car parks and squares.

Can an installation be enlarged later?

Yes. Modules are laid in a single layer and can be added as needed – for example when a development area grows.

Does JUMBO BLOCK also help against heat and drought?

Yes. Stored rainwater can be used for urban greenery; the underground storage also acts as a passive heat buffer.
