Physical Infrastructure Meets Digital Governance

The JUMBO BLOCK® system creates a new form of modern infrastructure:
the combination of physical resilience and digital infrastructure governance.
While the JUMBO BLOCK® module stores rainwater directly beneath urban areas and so strengthens the physical resilience of cities, the JUMBO BLOCK® Dashboard provides digital transparency and traceability for the system.
Sensors continuously record the condition of the installation.
The dashboard visualises fill levels, trends and system states and documents operator decisions. At the same time, a traceable system history is created that supports transparent infrastructure management.
The system thus combines several key requirements of modern infrastructure:
- physical resilience against heavy-rain events
- digital transparency about the condition of the infrastructure
- traceable operator decisions
- audit-ready documentation of system operation
The architecture is aligned with current regulatory requirements for critical infrastructure, in particular:
- KRITIS requirements for the protection of critical infrastructure in Germany
- NIS-2 Directive for cybersecurity governance
- Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) for secure digital systems
By combining infrastructure, sensors and digital governance, the result is a system that not only operates urban retention infrastructure but also documents it transparently and traceably.
The combination of physical and digital infrastructure creates a new level of urban resilience.
