The JUMBO BLOCK Engineering Tool Suite

Infrastructure starts with planning
Cities and municipalities are under increasing pressure to make their infrastructure more resilient to heavy rain and extreme weather events. While digital monitoring and transparent documentation are becoming ever more important, every infrastructure project still begins with planning and engineering assessment.
To complement the JUMBO BLOCK® Dashboard, the platform has now been extended with two practical online engineering tools: JUMBO BLOCK Plan and JUMBO BLOCK Hydro.
Together, these tools create a simple and effective workflow for municipalities, planners and infrastructure operators.
From planning to monitoring
The JUMBO BLOCK® platform now supports three key phases of modern infrastructure development and operation:
JUMBO BLOCK Plan
The planning tool helps determine the required number of modules, the installation area and the potential storage capacity of a project. It also visualises the arrangement of the JUMBO BLOCK® modules and gives a quick overview of system dimensions and required components.
JUMBO BLOCK Hydro
The hydraulic assessment tool determines the required retention volume based on rainfall parameters and project-specific conditions. This allows planners to estimate how effectively a planned installation can mitigate heavy-rain events and reduce flood risks.
JUMBO BLOCK Dashboard
The dashboard connects installed infrastructure with IoT sensor monitoring and transparent operational documentation. Water levels, system status and performance data can be recorded in real time, creating a reliable operational layer for modern infrastructure management.
Physical infrastructure meets digital resilience
Today, modern infrastructure must not only meet physical performance requirements but also rising demands for digital transparency and security.
The JUMBO BLOCK® concept combines both aspects:
- physical resilience through modular underground stormwater storage
- digital transparency through sensor monitoring and traceable infrastructure data
This approach is in line with emerging European infrastructure frameworks such as NIS-2, the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) and KRITIS-related resilience requirements, which increasingly focus on operational transparency, monitorability and reliability of critical infrastructure.
A practical workflow for modern infrastructure
By combining planning tools and digital monitoring, the JUMBO BLOCK® platform now supports the entire life cycle of urban stormwater retention infrastructure:
Planning → Hydraulic assessment → Digital monitoring
This integrated approach helps municipalities and infrastructure operators to:
- estimate storage capacities in early planning phases
- assess the potential for flood reduction
- visualise modular installation layouts
- monitor infrastructure performance after installation
All tools are available online and were developed to provide clear, transparent and practical support for early project phases.
Engineering tools now available online
The new engineering tools can now be accessed directly via the JUMBO BLOCK® platform.

They offer an easy starting point for planners, municipalities and engineers who want to explore how modular underground stormwater storage can be integrated into existing urban infrastructure.
Together with the JUMBO BLOCK® Dashboard, they are a further step towards transparent, resilient and digitally supported infrastructure.
